Penelope

Code S116

Statue of a sitting female wearing a peplum. The basket on which she is seated made it possible to identify the figure as Penelope the wife of Ulysses.

The statue, found on the Esquiline hill, near the church of Sant’Eusebio, is a roman copy of the early Imperial age from a Greek original of the 5th century b.C.
