Charioteer of Delphi

Cast from an original bronze in the severe style, ascribable to Pitagora of Reggio and datable around 477 b.C. The work of art, dicovered in the santuary of Delphi; was commissioned to Polyzalos of Gela, maybe to remember a victory on a charriot race in 474. The statue that represent the winner of the race was part of a quadriga. The original is preserved in the Museum of Delphi.
