Head of Meleager

Head from the roman copy of an original of Skopas, portraying the famous mythological hero Meleager that killed the wild boar in the Calydonian forest. Michelangelo showed great admiration for this group and restored the damaged left arm. Acquired by Pope Clemente XIV it is shown into the Room of Animals of the Vatican Museum.
