Cast of the roman bust of the I century b.C. discoveredat Herculaneum in 1754. In the past, the portrait has been attributed to the famous philosopher LuciusAnnaeus Seneca, but scholars now agree that the portrait would be of Hesiod. The original bronze, of excellent quality, is now in the NationalArchaeological Museum of Naples.
