The ‘Flayed Man‘ was modeled by the sculptor anatomist Ercole Lelli around 1734 as a sketch for the right-hand anatomy of man that supports the canopy of the Lector’s chair in the Anatomical Theater of the Archiginnasio in Bologna. The original in plaster is today preserved in the Museum of Palazzo Poggi in Bologna.
