Very fine Hadrian-era statue now preserved in the Gregorian Egyptian Museum of the Vatican Museums. Hadrian deified his favorite Antinous and founded a cult dedicated to his person. He founded the city of Antinopoli, near the place where the boy died, which became a center for the worship of the god Antinous in the form of Osiris. The statue was found in the Canopo Serapeum of Villa Adriana in Tivoli.
