Modern copy after the powerful portrait by Vincenzo Gemito (1852-1929) modelled in 1873 when, at the age of sixty, visited Naples to attend performance of his operas Don Carlos and Aida. This portrait show the introspective and troubled genious of the great composer as he sat at the piano.
