Famous artwork by the french romantic sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875). Formerly professor of drawing at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in 1854, Barye excelled in the representation of animals in their most natural attitudes. The huge amount of work, large and small left by Barye, gives him the right to be considered as one of the greatest artists of the french school, who devoted themselves to the representation of animals.
